At Home VM Puzzle

Postby fred_deakin on Tue May 26, 2009 2:44 pm

I've been working on my labs at home. One thing I've encountered is that when I start networking service on Nosmo, I get Internet access on my VMs (ie. I can ping google on my VMs); however, I lose Internet connection on my actual host.

This doesn't make sense. Since Nosmo is bridged to my actual host, I shouldn't be able to get access to the Internet if my actual host doesn't get a connection.

I can still complete the labs; however, I have to shutdown Nosmos network services if I want to surf the web on my actual host.

I've run into problems running VM's bridged on different computers as well. I have a 2wire (ATT) router and this seems to be the source of at least some of the issues.

When I try to create a bridged network through VMWare Workstation on my old wireless laptop the VM is never assigned an IP address.

I tried this on another newer laptop with no problems.
